Terms and conditions

These terms govern your access to and use of SyncBooks. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them, so please read them carefully.

1. About these terms

SyncBooks is operated by Synconic (Pvt) Ltd, a company incorporated in Sri Lanka with its office in Colombo. These terms form an agreement between Synconic (Pvt) Ltd and the individual or business that opens a SyncBooks account. If you accept these terms on behalf of a company, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that company.

2. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering, and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity that takes place under your account.
  • You must notify us promptly at info@synconic.net if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
  • The organization owner is responsible for the users they invite and for the roles and permissions they assign to them.

3. The service

SyncBooks provides cloud based accounting and business management software, including invoicing, purchasing, inventory, banking, tax computation and reporting, together with the Syna assistant. Features available to you depend on the plan your organization subscribes to.

Service delivery. SyncBooks is delivered electronically. Access is granted immediately once your account is created and, for paid plans, once payment is confirmed. Nothing is physically shipped. You access the service over the internet using a supported web browser; you are responsible for your own internet connection and devices.

4. Free trial

New organizations may start a 14 day free trial with full features unlocked. No card details are required to begin a trial. At the end of the trial your organization must choose a paid plan to keep using paid features; otherwise the account moves to the Free plan and its limits apply. We do not charge you automatically when a trial ends.

5. Plans, fees and payment

  • All prices are shown in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) and are exclusive of any taxes that may apply.
  • Subscriptions are billed in advance, either monthly or annually, according to the plan and billing cycle you select. Annual billing is charged at ten months' price for twelve months of service.
  • Payments are processed by a licensed third party payment gateway. By submitting a payment you also accept that gateway's own terms.
  • Access to paid features begins once payment is confirmed and continues to the end of the paid period.
  • We may change our prices. Existing subscribers will be given at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects their renewal.
  • If a payment fails, we will notify you and may suspend paid features until payment is completed.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings, Billing. Cancellation and refund arrangements are set out in our refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. Your data and content

The accounting records and other content you enter into SyncBooks remain your property. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, transmit and back up that content solely in order to provide the service to you. We handle it as described in our privacy policy. Most list screens offer a spreadsheet export, and documents and reports can be downloaded as PDF, at any time while your account is active. Write to us if you need a complete copy of your data in one package.

You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the information you enter, and for retaining any records you are required by law to keep.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use SyncBooks for any unlawful purpose, or to store or transmit unlawful material.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other organizations' data, or our systems.
  • Probe, scan, overload, disrupt or reverse engineer the service, or bypass any access control or usage limit.
  • Resell, sublicense or make the service available to anyone outside your organization without our written agreement.
  • Upload malicious code, or use the service in a way that harms us or other users.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these rules.

9. Not professional advice

SyncBooks helps you record transactions and prepare figures, including VAT, SSCL and WHT computations, based on the data you enter and the settings you choose. It is a software tool and not a substitute for professional accounting, tax or legal advice. Output generated by the software or by the Syna assistant may contain errors and should be reviewed before you rely on it or file anything with the Inland Revenue Department. You remain responsible for your own compliance obligations.

10. Availability

We work to keep SyncBooks available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Access may be suspended for maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including failures of internet, power or third party providers. Where planned maintenance is likely to interrupt service we will try to give advance notice.

11. Intellectual property

The SyncBooks software, its interface, design, documentation, name and logo belong to Synconic (Pvt) Ltd and are protected by law. These terms grant you a limited, non exclusive, non transferable right to use the service during your subscription. They do not transfer any ownership to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, Synconic (Pvt) Ltd is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss or corruption of data arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with the service in any twelve month period shall not exceed the subscription fees you paid us during that period.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using SyncBooks at any time, and you can cancel a paid subscription yourself from Settings, Billing. To close an account entirely, write to us at info@synconic.net from the registered address and we will action it. We may suspend or terminate an account if these terms are breached, if fees remain unpaid after notice, or if we are required to do so by law. On termination your right to use the service ends; please export any data you wish to keep before closing your account.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its update date, and we will notify account owners by email of material changes. Continuing to use SyncBooks after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
